How Our Portfolio Company Is Co-Building Public–Private Infrastructure for a Regional Tech Future

 July 9th, 2025

A Strategic Node Beyond Lagos

Nigeria’s tech ecosystem may be Lagos‑centric, but change is quietly rising in Abeokuta, Ogun State, one hour from Lagos, yet significantly more cost-effective and less congested. Its appeal is anchored in educational strength: Ogun State houses Nigeria’s highest number of tertiary institutions, offering a deep and scalable talent pool of software engineers, creatives, and entrepreneurs.

Window on America: Credibility Meets Local Ownership

In July 2025, GFA Technologies partnered with the U.S. Consulate General Lagos and Ogun State Government to open the Ogun Tech Hub Window on America, the 29th American Space in Nigeria and the second in Abeokuta. Acting U.S. Consul General in Lagos JoEllen Gorg called it:

“A symbol of engagement and opportunity … enhancing entrepreneurial, leadership, and technical advancement skills of young Nigerians.”

Governor Dapo Abiodun described the launch as:

“A platform for knowledge exchange, skills development, and peer‑to‑peer collaboration between our young minds … and the entire world.”

What’s unique is that GFA Technologies— a Nigerian startup— co-developed the space, signaling trust in local execution capacity. It anchors global credibility into local infrastructure.

From Functional Hub to Full Tech Park

With support from Ogun State, GFA is evolving the site into a public–private Technology Park:

  • The Window on America currently houses:
    • Remsana (EdTech), Unleashified (product engineering), and Dimpified (service commerce)
    • A designated BPO Zone, set to unlock thousands of remote jobs
  • A modular data center, slated for Q4 2025, will power scalable compute and hosting services for Nigerian and regional clients
  • A blended $120 million infrastructure financing plan is in motion—covering smart office space, energy, digital skills pipelines, hospitality, and a live–work–play environment

This is not speculation—it’s a structured vision backed by capital, policymakers, and digital developers.

Why This Matters for ODBA

At ODBA, we’re focused on founders who build systems, not just software. GFA perfectly aligns with this intent:

  • They’ve invested over ₦400 million into Ogun State and employ more than 1,000 software engineers.
  • They are designing innovation infrastructure that enables startups, institutions, and investment—anchoring a regional hub for years.
  • Their approach is locally-grounded and globally-aligned, delivering digital infrastructure at scale.

The Blueprint in Action

This is the portfolio narrative ODBA stands behind:

Strategic Focus How GFA Delivers
Infrastructure-led growth Hub evolving into a full Technology Park
Portfolio execution GFA transitions from startup tooling to systems-operator
Regional scaling Abeokuta positioned as a credible innovation node
Public-private collaboration Trust in local execution with global partnerships

What’s Next — and Why Now Matters

  • The data center is entering pre-development as a resilient, modular asset.
  • The BPO Zone status will unlock thousands of remote jobs.
  • The broader tech park, including hospitality and convention space, is being planned with global design and financing in mind.

If you’re a startup, investor, or institution looking to partner on digital infrastructure or ecosystem development, GFA Technologies and the Ogun Tech Park are where innovation meets scale.

The Ogun Tech Hub, and soon-to-arrive data center, are not just physical structures—they are the foundational blocks of West Africa’s next innovation chapter. With ODBA backing systems-scale visions like this, we’re closing the distance between ambition and real-world impact.

GFA Technologies isn’t just building software. They’re building the future of Nigeria’s innovation infrastructure.
