30th July, 2025
In 2019, Treepz launched in Lagos with just 8 customers and a clear mission, to reimagine corporate travel and mobility across Africa using smart, tech-enabled solutions.
Today, that mission is moving the world.
On July 30, 2025, Treepz officially launched operations in Canada, marking its entry into North America with a landmark milestone: securing its first corporate client, the University of Torontosponsored African Impact Initiative, under a multi-year agreement.
Through this partnership, Treepz will manage all travel logistics, including flights, accommodation, vehicle rentals, and curated experiences across South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, and Rwanda.
“The launch of Treepz Canada is not just a business move — it’s a message. That African startups can build globally respected companies. From Ajah to Ontario, this is a story of grit, grace, and ambition.”
— Onyeka Akumah, Founder & CEO, Treepz
A Warm Canadian Welcome

Treepz was formally welcomed by Mayor Patrick Brown at Brampton City Hall, alongside co-founders Onyeka Akumah, Enagwolor Johnny, John Shaibu, and board member Ebenezer Arthur.
“Treepz, welcome to Canada. It’s a homecoming. If you can do it in Lagos, you can do it anywhere in the world. We’re proud to have you here.”
— Mayor Patrick Brown, City of Brampton
Treepz’s Canadian ties date back to its time in the Techstars Toronto accelerator in 2021. Early conversations with the City of Brampton, and support from ecosystem partners like BHive Brampton and the Black Entrepreneurship Alliance’s TAP Program, laid the foundation for what has become a milestone moment for African-led innovation.
“We’re proud Nigerians building a global company. Now we’re live in North America, serving customers across two continents.”
— Enagwolor Johnny, Co-Founder & President, Treepz
